The Uetersen Airport is located near the town of Uetersen in Pinneberg district in the commune of care. With 60,000 aircraft movements per year it is one of the most frequented airports in Germany.
The previously unknown private pilot Mathias Rust took off from here on May 13, 1987 flying a Cessna F172P, registration D-ECJB owned by his flying club starting his famous flight to Moscow, where he landed in Red Square.
The airfield was also the Air Force Museum Uetersen home since 1956 and was created in 1995 in a large-scale action to Berlin-Gatow was relocated, where today's Luftwaffenmuseum der Bundeswehr was born.
No scheduled services are offered. Uetersen Airport is the homebase for the business charter operations of Air Hamburg.
